| Founded for the enjoyment and
enrichment of its members, Distaff Singers has a far more
serious mission. Each year, proceeds from our Benefit concert
go to the Ida Altenbach Scholarship Fund for music education.
Distaff’s goal is to share our love of music with our
community. We believe that our children and youth should have
opportunities to experience the joy and appreciation of music.
Here’s what some Distaff scholarship recipients have
to say:
| “Distaff Singers’ contributions
help support a comprehensive music education program
that reaches every community in Oakland... You guys
are great! These scholarships allow us to reach the
youth who really need us.”
Holly Babe Faust, Executive Director
Oakland Youth Chorus for Music Education
|
Prior recipients of Distaff scholarships include the Oakland
Youth Chorus for Music Education, Franklin Elementary School,
Hawthorne Elementary School and Archway School in Oakland,
Encinal High School in Alameda, and St. Cornelius School in
Richmond.
The Distaff Singers is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization
under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tax-deductible
