Distaff Singers' annual benefit concert showcases our
versatility as a performing group.
The first half of the program is presented in traditional
concert style. The types of music we perform in this part
of the program range from classical to contemporary and from
traditional to jazz and pop. Often, this part of the program
is structured around a theme to showcase music of a certain
time or place. In years past, these themes have included:
- Songs of Inspiration
- Scottish ballads (in memory of our dear friend and long-time
member, Agnes Kirkwood)
- Eastern European folk songs
- Ladino torch songs
- The Elements (Earth, Fire, Air, Water)
The second half of the program is more carefree and fun,
with costumes and choreography that entertain both young and
old. Broadway tunes, pop songs and old standards become part
of an entertaining musical revue.
So, if you love to sing and all of this sounds fun, come
and join us today! New members are always welcome! No auditions
